Tabor’s Public Health Club (PHC) is a student-led non-profit club dedicated to sharing reliable health information and supporting local communities. It is a chapter of the Public Health Association that connects many different independent schools (Blair, Hotchkiss, Lawrenceville, Mercersburg, Middlesex, and more). Founded in September of 2024 by Andrea Yin’ 27, Andrea Lo ’27, and Cindy Ren ’27, the club has over 35 members participating in their weekly and seasonal initiatives.
The club started out strong in November with a fundraiser for the Asian Health Service – a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides primary care and services to underserved immigrants and refugee Asian communities. In collaboration with the Tabor’s Asian Student Coalition (ASC), the two clubs met at Director of Diversity, Equity and Belonging RoseMarie Wallace’s apartment and made a variety of treats including Rice Krispies treats, mochi, and even a matcha stand. With the generosity of faculty and Sophie Zhou ’29, they also had other goods to sell, such as art keychains. The Tabor community was able to raise a total of 645 dollars (814 in revenue).

Following the fundraiser, PHC shifted to a more tangible form of service — hygiene kits in collaboration with the Convoy of Hope. Convoy of Hope is a nonprofit humanitarian organization that focuses on disaster relief through hygiene kits. They distribute the kits to unhoused populations and families affected by natural disasters with donors and volunteers. Hygiene kits are essential during these tumultuous times as they provide basic items to maintain cleanliness and prevent diseases. To fund the hygiene kits, the club decided to do a mystery bag fundraiser. The cover for these bags was customed designed sketches by PHC’s members with drinks, chips, stationery, and arts packed inside. Part of the contents were graciously donated from the Community Service Board as well. In total, they were able to raise 350 dollars in club funds and cover the cost of 50 hygiene kits.
“I have participated in the Public Health Club bake sale and since being a member I’ve enjoyed how friendly the leaders and the other members of this club are. Especially this year, the club has expanded their help outside of school for fundraising for local health organizations as well as spreading awareness about health on social media.” Ella O’Brien’27

With the trimester ending, PHC is collaborating with Sophie Zhou ’29 on an arts drive for hospitalized children and communicating with the Sippican Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center down the road of Tabor Academy for volunteering opportunities. PHC wishes to end it with a fundraiser as a cross-sectional imitative with the Public Health Association and thank the community for its generosity throughout the years.
“I participated in bake sale, both selling and baking, frequently went to meetings, prepared blind bags and other things for sales, worked the sales, made jewelry with Sophie.” Maggie Fairbanks’29.

“I have enjoyed Sophie’s jewelry making workshop and other volunteer opportunities. As well as meetings where I have gained new perspectives and gotten to contribute ideas to the unique conversations that we have!” Arden Schreyer’29
