The Tabor Academy varsity football team is having a season to remember. The team’s performance on game day reflects their tireless training and dedication.
One of the key factors in Tabor’s dominance this season is their effort during practice; the coaching staff ensures that every practice mirrors the intensity of a real game. During practices, the team is split into offense and defense, paying close attention to refining their skills. Running drills, perfecting plays, and building strength are all part of their daily regimen.
Head Coach Jeff Moore speaks on his team’s triumphs so far, saying, “Every game is not a guaranteed win, but if we do everything we’re supposed to do and stop big plays with our defense, that gives us the opportunity to be successful.”
The offensive squad is led by the standout quarterback Peter Bourque ‘27, who has shown exceptional leadership and concentration under pressure. His accurate passes and incredible range have been vital to the team’s success. At running back, ISL MVP and reigning New England Player of the Year Hugo Djeumeni ‘25 is a powerhouse, consistently breaking through defenses and racking up touchdowns. Wide receiver Kaiden Drinkwater ’27 has emerged as a go-to target for crucial plays. His speed and hand-eye coordination makes him a threat on every down. The defense has been equally impressive with some notable players including Marcus Almada ‘26, Folu Shobowale ‘25, and Will Smith ‘25, who keep opponents from finding a rhythm and shutdown plays with organized tactics and aggressive tackling.
This year, the path to championship is within reach for Tabor’s football team. If they stay true to their game plan and execute as they do in practice, their efforts could carry on all the way. As they approach the most crucial part of the season, every player understands that focus and dedication in practice makes all the difference.
