On the first Sunday of the school year, 154 seniors embarked on their memorable class retreat to the Hale Education Facility in Westwood, Massachusetts. Although previous senior retreats have been an overnight camping experience before school starts, this year’s was condensed to a day-long schedule during the first weekend on campus.
Upon arrival, the senior class was divided into twelve groups, each participating in a wide variety of team-bonding activities that took full advantage of Hale’s expansive outdoor facilities. Designed to foster trust, collaboration, and leadership, activities included a low ropes course, blindfolded hiking, and friendly competitions between groups. A highlight for many was the high ropes course, where students braved walking across a wire 40 feet in the air, encouraging each other to step out of their comfort zones.
Lunch featured pizza and soda from Comella’s, a local family-owned establishment. Afterward, students played kickball on the fields and soaked up the sunny weather, before heading back for another round of team-bonding games. The retreat ended at 4 pm, when the senior class reconvened and returned to campus.
As the seniors prepare to take on leadership roles throughout the school, Tabor hopes this retreat will equip students with the skills to collaborate effectively and strengthen class bonds before the school year kicks off in full force.
