Boys JV Lacrosse
Boys JV Lacrosse fought hard and showed great team spirit against Portsmouth Abbey during Wednesday’s game. They continued to persevere until the very end, showing great communication and hustle despite the dreary weather. Our Boys JV Lacrosse team is filled with many promising athletes, constantly improving every game. Ending the match with a 16 – 3 victory, there’s no doubt in anyone’s minds that they’ll bring home another win next week.
Boys Tennis
This Wednesday, Tabor’s Boys Varsity Tennis team faced off against Milton Academy in a heated match. The game kicked off with doubles matches. The powerful rallies between the two teams lit up the courts with energy. Andy Mai’s ’24 powerful serves coupled with Juan Torres’ ’24 amazing alley shots made them a formidable team on the courts. Soon after, the singles matches commenced. Fired up, the two teams battled on the courts. Sadly, Tabor lost to the Milton Academy team 1-4. Despite the loss, the team is not slowing down and are now preparing to go again St George’s this Saturday at 2:00 PM.
Girls Varsity Softball
Yesterday, Girls Varsity Softball went against the strong opponent Milton Academy Mustangs. Despite the rainy weather, they collaborated seamlessly to defend each point. In the third period, Anna Michaud ’25 hit the ball with a powerful swing, securing the first base. Bella Nugent ’25, Tati Rodriguez ’24, and Lauren Graff ’25 followed. With Anna advancing to the next base each time, she ultimately scored the first run. Although losing to Milton 1-6, the Seawolves displayed excellent sportsmanship and team spirit. Cheers vibrated across the field. Later that evening, the team gathered in the Travis Roy Student Center to honor their beloved seniors. They are excited to travel to the Brooks School for the Big East Tournament over the weekend.
Applied Music
Yesterday was the applied music concert. Everyone there gave a wonderful performance. The night started with Sage Ding playing “Valse de Concert” by Alphonse Hasselmans. He was amazing. After Sage, Toebto Amponpuet played “Romance” and “The Cascades” on the piano. Both pieces were breathtaking. The Makepeace audience was amazed by dorm mates Allen Zheng, who played “Sonata” and “You Raise Me Up” on the clarinet, and James Want, who sang “Under the Mountain of Fuji.” Richard Ye’s singing “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran was amazing. Ashley Byrnes sang “I’d Rather Go Blind” and “You Don’t Even Know Who I Am” with her angelic voice. Jace’s “Beyond Love” performance was outstanding. Kevin Li & Alan Ji’s collaborated to play “Apres un reve Op.7 No.1” and “Theme from Ladies in Lavender.” At the end of the night, everyone was shocked by how Dr. Zhou sang “My Way” with Jace Lee, Richard Ye, and Mr. Thomas.
Ceramics Presentation
On Tuesday night, Art Fellow Shushank Shrestha gave an extensive presentation on the inspiration for and evolution of his art. Shushank spoke about his home in Nepal and how the culture and artwork of Kathmandu inspired his works depicting inanimate objects coming to life in forms influenced by Hindu gods and deities. These included paintings and ceramic sculptures of inanimate objects, most notably shoes, as well as guardian lions, a Tori gate, and even a mouse car Uber with Air Pods. On top of this, he also talked about getting his undergrad at Kathmandu University in studio arts and how that led him to a ceramics program in France and, eventually, to Tabor Academy. Seeing Shushank’s artworks and the thought behind them was an overall amazing experience, and we here at Tabor wish him the best of luck in creating his unique and fun pieces in the years to come.
